Farm Trail

Experience Timeless Traditions and Original Ingenuity

When the first settlers came to this land of hills and valleys in the late 18th century, they found a place where the soil and the seasons offered a chance to build new farmsteads and new lives.

It was all about work, planting, tending and harvesting corn, wheat, cotton, tobacco, fruits and vegetables and raising livestock. Along the way, as the crops grew, so did a culture, a way of life that is shaped by the seasons and grounded in hard work.

Today, modern tractors may have replaced the wooden plows of yesteryear, but farms still dot the countryside and the legacy of those early settlers is reflected at every turn.

Come explore Southeast Tennessee and enjoy the fruits of our labor! You'll find farms that honor the timeless traditions of the past growing crops the way their ancestors did. And you'll find new endeavors ranging from alpaca farms to organic gardening classes.

You can take a hay wagon ride, drive a scenic country road, stay in a bed and breakfast, sample fresh baked breads, pick your own strawberries, feed the alpacas, hike through a forest with a llama as your companion, enjoy a traditional Southern lunch, select the perfect daylily to take home, attend an old-fashioned county fair.  The choices are endless!
