Shaari Zion and Workmen’s Circle Cemetery
Ridgeside Drive
Chattanooga, TN

Located on the side of Missionary Ridge, the Sharri Zion and Workmen’s Circle Cemetery (also known as the ‘ Koblentz Cemetery ”) was founded as a burial place for Orthodox Jews and members of the Workmen’s Circle, an American Jewish fraternal order dedicated to the preservation of Yiddish culture. Established in 1905, the cemetery was a joint effort between the Orthodox Community and Workmen’s Circle members who saw a need for a cemetery that would fulfill the needs of their respective communities. Interestingly, the cemetery is divided down the middle by a concrete walkway; on one side is the Shaari Zion Cemetery ; on the other side is the Workmen’s Circle Cemetery . An imposing stone wall and an iron gate frame the cemetery entrance.
