The first Episcopal church services held in Tracy City occurred under a sawmill shed near the railroad depot in 1868, and were conducted by Bishop Quintard, a Rev. Dr. Davis, and the Rt. Rev. Alexander Gregg, bishop of Texas. The parish met in a building called Temperance Hall until 1873, when the first Christ Church nave was constructed. The Rev. Henry Easter came to Christ Church in 1891, at which time he began carving a new altar, communion rail, Bishop’s chair, Priest’s chair, and lecturn. When the 1873 structure was replaced by a new church in 1928, special attention was given to preserve Rev. Easter’s artwork, which graces Christ Church ’s nave today.
