What is a Yurt? you may wonder...A Yurt is a portable structure much like those used by nomadic tribes in Mongolia over 2000 years ago. The domed, tent like structure sits upon a tongue and groove wood floor to create an efficient shelter that is environmentally friendly.
The Ocoee Yurt Company is found in the Southeast corner of Tennessee, surrounded by the Cherokee National Forest, in the quiet little town of Ducktown, home of the Ocoee River. The Ocoee River is located just five mile from the Ocoee Yurt lodging site and is world renowned for hosting the 1996 Olympic Kayak Competition. Also found at the Ocoee Whitewater Center are a maze of mountain bike trails, just a short bike ride away from the Ocoee Yurt lodging site.
Our idea for this unique lodging has the appeal any novice to extreme mountain biker, rafter or kayaker would love. We hope you enjoy our unique mountain getaway.
