Nestled on a small hilltop of the Johnson Family Farm is a wonderful restaurant making its reputation for southern country cooking all along the Sequatchie Valley as well as southeast Tennessee. Not only do you get good food here but also one of the most magnificent views of mountains, a chance to expose your family to farm life with a petting zoo available as well as tours of a 60 year old dairy. In the fall season they offer hayrides, bonfires, day camps and an amazing difficult corn maze to find your way out of.

The Cookie Jar Cafe features farm-fresh meatloaf, baked chicken and fresh fruits and vegetables from their grandmother's homemade recipes. They have a special on Friday nights from 4 - 8 p.m. of Catfish, slaw, white beans, hush puppies, choice of fries or baked potatoes. If you are interested in a lighter menu, they also have homemade soups and salads, sandwiches, and honest to goodness deviled eggs. You don't find those in restaurants often. They serve delicious steaks and hamburger steaks that come from their own farm-raised cattle. Talking about telling the difference in the taste of meats, you will definitely find it here. Each meal that you have will also be served with fresh homemade dinner rolls - which you could make a meal out of by themselves. Then there are DESSERTS  homemade pies with mile high meringue, cakes, and cookies.

The three sisters that own and run the cafe left their careers behind to save the family farm they grew up on. The farm has been in the Gray-Johnson family for over 150 years. The minute you go through the door of the cafe you will see Peggy, Bonnie or Sue and will be welcomed and treated as though you are part of the family. You might even find a cookie jar like yours when you see their display of over 200 jars in the restaurant. You will have a wonderful dining experience and may want to stay on their porch and rock awhile and take in the scenic atmosphere.
