The 652-mile Tennessee River is formed at the confluence of the Holston and French Broad rivers to the east of Knoxville and flows south into Alabama and Mississippi and then north into Kentucky where it empties into the Ohio River. A number of communities and businesses throughout the region provide river access, fishing, marinas, outfitters, food, lodging and camping.
